Walpurgisnacht
At 1,141 meters, the Brocken was rumoured to be the gathering point for European witches.
Then came the severe witch trials. Later, Goethe wrote about the mountain in Faust.
I was lucky a patron on Patreon took me to the Harz Mountains (although) a few weeks before Walpurgis Night, when folklore says witches fly here from all over Europe!
These photos are my queer interpretation of the landscape. It got me thinking... Those targeted in the witch trials were persecuted and killed simply for being different and living outside society's rules. Then maybe places labelled "demonic" by the dominant culture were just places where marginalised people were.
